The nursery is a storage center for animals who will be used for experimentation by students and academics from the university. Among the animals in cages are reptiles, birds and mostly mice. They live in overcrowded conditions completely removed from their natural habitat.
This speciesist practice, to see another as an object because they are of another species, is abhorrent to anyone who believes in the most basic concept of equality; believing that another does not suffer under conditions of imprisonment, torture and experimentation is an excuse, since they have a sensory apparatus similar to ours.
He who maintains silence is an accomplice in these acts of cruelty and to do nothing makes one equally guilty as those who carry out the cruelty; it was for this reason and many others that we took those caged from this prison, not to have them as pets but as equals, otherwise it would be a prison like any other.
We know that the physical destruction of this place is not the end of the experimentation, but if such actions increase it would be a real possibility.
It should be emphasized that those of us who undertook this action are individuals unrelated to any agency or organization, academics, officials or students of this university.
We oppose all forms of domination, as those reproduce power relationships. We assert that we act violently as a small response to the bloodthirsty violence of the State and the countless deaths that have lined the walls of this place, and as a response against the perpetuation of this form of education that is torture.
That this small flame ignites more than hatred in all those who believe as we do.

"Liberación de animales destinados a la experimentación en la UMCE de Chile

El vivero es un centro de almacenamiento para animales que serán usados para experimentación por parte de alumnos y académicos pertenecientes a la universidad. Entre los animales encerrados se encuentran reptiles, aves y mayoritariamente ratones. Estos viven en condiciones de hacinamiento y alejados en completo de su hábitat.
Esta práctica especista, la de ver al otro como un objeto por el hecho de ser de otra especie, es aborrecible para cualquiera que crea en la más vaga idea de igualdad, creer que otro ser no sufre en condiciones de encarcelamiento, torturas y experimentación es una excusa, ya que estos poseen un aparato sensorial similar al nuestro.
El seguir callado siendo cómplice de estos actos de crueldad y no hacer nada posee la misma culpabilidad que efectuarlos, por esto y mucho más es que sacamos a los encarcelados de ese lugar de presidio y no para tenerlos como mascotas sino como un par, ya que es un pres@ como cualquier otro.
Sabemos que la destrucción física del lugar no es el fin a la experimentación, pero si esta clase de acciones aumentara sí seria una opción real.
Cabe recalcar que l@s que efectuamos esta acción somos individualidades ajenas a cualquier organismo u organización, académicos, funcionarios y estudiantes de esta universidad.
Nos oponemos a cualquier forma de dominación, las cuales reproducen relaciones de poder. Revindicamos nuestro que hacer violento como una pequeña respuesta a su violencia estatal sanguinaria de incontables muertes que han tapizado este lugar y por la perpetuación de esta forma de educación que tortura.
Que esta pequeña llama enciende más que odio en todo aquel que crea en lo mismo que nosotr@s.
