"Deer liberation - 16th dec '05

During the early hours of Friday December 16th 2005 we arrived at Manor Farm in Brockley, just West of Bristol, who breed and kill deer to produce venison.

We cut out huge stretches of fencing giving every deer on the farm a chance to escape and live free in nearby woodland. We believe that there were around 80 to 100 deer on the farm before.

The farm had been targeted in September 2005 when deer were released; since this liberation the farmers seem to have gone to great lengths to keep the deer imprisoned - in some cases using three rows of fencing, and by rearing sheep in adjoining fields. We were careful not to cut fences into the sheep fields so instead spent time ensuring the deer had other escape routes.
