Hundreds of geese that were supposed to be destined for holiday dinner tables instead were stolen from a farm in southern England late last week, Agence France Presse reported.

A flock of approximately 200 organically farmed geese were missing from a barn at a farm in Exford. About 20 ducks and the farm dog were also missing, although the dog was recovered nearby.

The geese were to be supplied for the Prince of Wales's Duchy Original brand and were all pre-ordered for Christmas dinner tables. Farmers Rona and Nevil Amiss, who farm geese, ducks, beef and sheep, must now discuss the situation with their customers, who also include the supermarket chain Sainsbury's."
