As reported by local media in the UK:

Partridges for shoots are set free

A partridge breeder from Shropshire has been dealt a massive blow after 3,000 birds worth around £75,000 were released into the wild.

The red legged partridges were released from their pens in Hadnall yesterday. Police said they belonged to a breeder in Ladymass Road.

Officers investigating the incident said they could not confirm if animal activists were responsible. The birds were due to be distributed to shoots across the UK.

Police spokesman Richard Ewels said: "Although it's not criminal damage or burglary we are appealing for information about those responsible."
