According to media reports, on August 8 a group of people entered a research facility at Catholic University in downtown Santiago and interrupted a course on laboratory animals. The event followed a similar action on August 6 when a group of people broke into an animal lab at the University of Chile, also in Santiago.
On August 10, police closed roads surrounding Catholic University following a bomb threat and the discovery of a suspicious object.
